Workshops

These are training sessions that combine theory and practice guided by expert professionals in fungiculture. In each workshop, participants take home the crops they have produced during the training to watch them grow at home.

We mainly work with log mushrooms (saprophytic mushrooms) and teach the basics of their cultivation according to species and seasons through various techniques and methods. We use all kinds of organic materials: logs, straw, coffee grounds, cardboard, clothing, among others. Always raw materials made up of lignin and cellulose.

Apart from that, we like to spread awareness about their unique biology, the roles that fungi play in nature, their widespread presence in many of our foods, the nutritional properties of edible mushrooms, and the therapeutic benefits of medicinal mushrooms. At the same time, we are committed to sharing other potential uses that open up with the use of Fungiculture, such as: cleaning contaminated soils, filtering wastewater, manufacturing new building materials, and creating new fabrics from the natural technology of mycelium.

We work from a philosophy close to food sovereignty and personal and collective self-sufficiency to make mushrooms and mycelium occupy a central space in food production and as a source of health and inspiration to respond to the great environmental and social challenges of this century.

Each person takes home the crops they have made with their own hands and some summary notes from the training.

Audience

We are especially targeting adults and young people, but we also offer training for families. For beginner workshops, no prior knowledge or experience is required.

Where and when to do a workshop

At Boscum, we organize weekend workshops in La Garrotxa (Girona, Catalonia). We also travel to hold training activities at fairs, high schools and schools, civic centers, and organizations in general that are interested in the dissemination and promotion of mushrooms and fungi in general.
