Mushroom cultivation on straw and fungal self-sufficiency workshop
Learn to grow mushrooms during the warmest months of the year
Did you think mushrooms only grew in autumn?
In this hands-on workshop you will discover how to grow different mushroom species using straw as the main substrate, through a simple, accessible and surprisingly efficient cultivation system, with no technology or external energy required.
We will work with low-intervention cultivation methods using only:
- Straw
- Water
- Healthy mycelium
A training designed to expand your knowledge of fungal self-sufficiency and bring you closer to mushroom cultivation from a practical, regenerative perspective adapted to the home environment.
What will you learn during the workshop?
Mushroom cultivation techniques on straw
Throughout the training we will learn:
- How to prepare straw for cultivation
- What conditions favour mycelium development
- How to correctly inoculate a substrate
- How to maintain a culture without technology or complex systems
- Which species are best suited for straw cultivation
- Basic principles of hygiene and mycelium handling
Mushroom species we will work with
Straw cultivation allows you to work with different edible and medicinal mushroom species, including:
- Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus sp.)
- Paddy straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea)
- Giant Stropharia (Stropharia rugosoannulata)
- Enoki (Flammulina velutipes)
- Mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe
Practical part of the workshop
During the workshop we will carry out a step-by-step hands-on cultivation so you can understand and experience the complete process of inoculation and substrate preparation.
Each participant will prepare their own culture and take it home.
What does the workshop include?
Included materials
- Complete mushroom growing kit in a 10-litre container
- Mycelium and substrate to carry out the cultivation
- Workshop notes and documentation
Who is it for?
This workshop is aimed at:
- People interested in mushroom cultivation
- Self-sufficiency projects
- Beginner growers
- Mycology enthusiasts
- People interested in food sovereignty
- Anyone curious about the fungal kingdom and its practical applications
Practical mushroom cultivation on straw workshop
An opportunity to discover simple and accessible ways to grow mushrooms at home during the summer, understand mycelium behaviour and gain practical tools to get started in low-tech fungal cultivation.
