Cultivated mushrooms grow mostly on natural materials rich in cellulose and lignin. This means that there are multiple options for cultivating them: from logs and stumps, to sawdust, cereal straw, fruit pits, coffee processing residues, and vegetable pulps... These are raw materials considered waste or by-products from forestry and agriculture. This means that they are abundant materials, easy to obtain, and their economic cost is low.
We can teach you the cultivation method that best suits your needs: on logs (cutting technique, drilling and sealing technique), cultivation beds, pasteurization or sterilization of substrates with sawdust or straw, these are the most common.
What mushrooms can I grow?
Depending on the raw material you have available, the final cultivation substrates, and your preferences, you can grow Shiitake, different varieties of Oyster mushrooms, Poplar mushrooms, Hericium, Maitake, Reishi, and other log mushrooms.
Is it possible to grow them all year round?
The answer is YES, although each case is different and depending on your location and the growing space, production can be more seasonal (autumn and spring) or can be extended for much of the year. Keep in mind that you can experiment with growing species and varieties that adapt to the environmental conditions of each season.
